Buy Freyberger's Wiener Sausages

Vienna sausages, Frankfurter sausages, horseradish sausages or simply Wienerle - this popular sausage speciality has many names. Did you know that the origins of the Vienna sausage can be traced back to the Middle Ages? The earliest records date back to the 13th century and to the most populous city in Hesse, Frankfurt am Main. This is where the name Frankfurter, which is still often used as a synonym today, comes from. However, Vienna sausages and Frankfurters are not exactly the same thing. At Freyberger you can buy Vienna sausages where you can literally taste the craftsmanship and long tradition of this homemade speciality. As a traditional butcher's shop with a great passion for meat and sausage products, we would be happy to explain to you what makes Vienna sausages so special.

Are Vienna sausages the same as Frankfurters?

Both sausage specialties are the so-called boiled sausage in a casing. The difference lies in the types of meat used. Original Frankfurters are made from pure pork, while the tender Vienna sausage is filled with a mixture of pork and beef. Both types impress with their light smoky aroma and their crispy, fresh bite. And it was 1805 when the Austrian Johann Georg Lahner came to Vienna after his apprenticeship as a butcher in Frankfurt and opened his own butcher's shop there. Equal parts pork and beef - the new creation of the Vienna sausage quickly became a bestseller.

Why Vienna sausages from the Freyberger butcher shop?

We also use only meat from regional partner companies for our popular Vienna sausages. The animals are allowed to roam freely, and we strictly reject factory farming and long transport routes. Try our Vienna sausages. You will notice the difference in quality in our entire homemade range , and you are guaranteed to taste it!

Vienna sausages for varied cuisine

Tender and crunchy to the bite - Vienna sausages not only impress with their aromatic taste, they are also a real all-rounder for the modern kitchen. Classically boiled in hot water (do not boil), the Vienna sausage makes a tasty meal with bread or rolls.
The trick when heating the sausages is to let the water boil first. Now you salt the sausage water and put the sausages in. But be careful - put the lid on the pot and don't let it simmer! Don't leave it on the hot stove. This way the sausages will heat up in a few minutes, but won't burst. The salt in the water also prevents them from having a bland taste.
The best way to refine our delicious sausages is with good mustard or mildly spicy horseradish. The Vienna sausage is also very popular as a snack between meals. With pickles and fried onions as a hot dog or in toast, the sausage makes a particularly tasty snack with a bite.
Vienna sausages go very well with creamy soups or hearty casseroles with peas and potatoes. Swabians love the combination with lentils and spaetzle - a real classic in Swabia. Refine dishes as you like with our delicious Vienna sausages - enjoyment can be so simple!
