Metzgerei Freyberger presents EM burgers
Freyberger is cheering on the German national team with a new product. A burger in the colors black, red and gold - matching the European Championship in Germany - is now available from us. Our burger kit of the month for June: The European Championship burger .
Master butcher keeps his fingers crossed
All of Germany is in football fever. The European Championship will soon start in Germany and the opening match is on June 14, 2024. Germany will play against Scotland and kick off the championship at 9 p.m. The competition takes place every four years, most recently in 2021 due to the corona pandemic. The current defending champion is Italy.
The country beat England 4-3 on penalties to win the European Cup for the second time. Currently, only Germany and Spain have won the title more often. Both have achieved three European Cup victories.
"We're keeping our fingers crossed and want to cheer on the German team in our own way," explains world champion butcher and meat sommelier Dirk Freyberger. The Nuremberg native's style is craftsmanship and that's why he's dedicating his burger of the month to the national team, the butcher adds.
For this reason, the European Championship burger also bears the colors of the German national flag. "I specifically thought about how to depict the colors black, red and gold and was able to successfully reflect these in the ingredients," Freyberger replies.

The title is not everything
"I know what it's like to compete for the country, so I would like to express my admiration," said the world champion. Freyberger also brought a title to Germany - the world champion cup in the butcher's trade .
"I really hope that we will become European football champions for the fourth time. But if it doesn't happen, that's fine too," says Dirk. There is enormous pressure on the team anyway. The home advantage is both a blessing and a curse, adds the master butcher. "The only important thing is that you do your best - a good game is worth more than a title," emphasizes the meat sommelier.
